What are the different programs to apply for an open work permit if I am now in a common law relationship with a canadian citizen?

Thank you for your replies.

There's really only one based on your common law relationship. If your partner sponsors you for PR using the inland process, you will qualify for an open work permit once the application has first stage approval. First stage approval is currently currently taking 12 months to complete.

Depending on your situation, you might want to look at applying for your PR via the Outland process instead of the Inland. The first stage approval for Inland is currently taking 12 months to complete, while depending on your visa office by the time those 12 months is up you might have your PR if you applied Outland.

I'm not sure what your situation is though, as I just glanced at your other posts, it doesn't yet look like you qualify for a common law relationship as you have to have lived together for a year.

Thanks for your replies.

Yes we have been living together for a year and a half now.

My nationality is ecuadorian but Colombia is the assigned country to process a visa. I see the processing time in months is 15. Maybe its best to apply inland if it is stated 12 months, or I can apply outland where there are faster processing times?

The processing times on the cic website are unfortunately not very accurate. Maybe take a look at the Bogota thread to get an idea of what kind of processing times people are seeing at the moment.

From the CIC website it says, "You must select the visa office that serves your country of nationality or the country where you have been legally admitted for at least one year." So if you have been living in a different country you may be able to select a different visa office.

I'm not very familiar with Inland applications but whenever it comes up in the forums people usually recommend Outland over Inland. Maybe take a look at the Inland 2014 thread as well:
