Hi

I have been living with my partner who is Canadian on a commom law basis for approx 3 years. We intend to move to Canada permanently but, at present, can i apply for a 6 months temporary work visa without needing a job offer so we can move to Canada and then apply for permanent immigration status once settled.

Thanks folks.

1. You need an employer, LMO before a work permit would be issued. Unless you qualify under the Working Holiday scheme (IEC)
2. If your C/law partner is a Canadian s/he can sponsor you while you both are residing abroad, you don't have to be in Canada to apply see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
