Common-law: Study permit + Open work permit possibility

Hi,

We are an Italian couple evaluating to apply for a study permit. We have been in Canada last year (I've been for ~6 months, my girlfriend for ~3) with a WHP (with IEC). We are in Italy now and we're planning to go back to Canada. This would be how:
- My girlfriend would apply for a study permit (1 year course), which includes also the 20 hours/week part-time work permit
- I would get an open work permit of the same duration (1 year)

Main questions are:
-> Has someone succeeded in applying for study + open work permit from outside of Canada?
-> We also have to show proof of our common-law relationship: Would that be a problem to do from outside of Canada?

Other questions:
-> I know you need to convince CIC that you'll leave Canada at the end of the study permit. Do you think having already been in Canada can be a problem? Or, having applied for Express Entry can be a problem?
-> Are Canadian employers likely to offer jobs to people with a 1-year work permit?

All of your help is appreciated.
Thank you! :)

Re: Study permit + Open work permit for Common-law possibility

Do you meet the common law requirement? Have you lived together continuously (i.e. without a break) for a minimum of one full year and can you prove this through joint lease agreements, utility bills, etc?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, we have lived together for 1 continuous year and have documents to support that.
