Hi guys,
My partner and I are going to apply for common-law sponsorship. I encountered some questions while filling out the forms.
1. My current status in Canada is going to expire and I have applied for an extension. We will only be able to send our sponsorship application after my current status expires and becomes implied status. What then should I write for my current status on the form? Should I select "Visitor" and hand write "applied for an extension" or should I select "Others" and say "implied status (visitor)"?
2. What's the correct marital status should we write? Is it "Single" or "Common-law partner"?
3. How many family members should I include? I don't have a child so do I write "one" or "two" to include my common-law partner?

Hi

U need to be PR or Canadian Citizen to sponsor spouse

-- Did you apply for extension already?

2. What's the correct marital status should we write? Is it "Single" or "Common-law partner"?
-- Common-law

3. How many family members should I include? I don't have a child so do I write "one" or "two" to include my common-law partner?
-- sponsor and applicant. If there is any question about the rest, not accompanying, you need to include information about them.

Hi,

1. Yes, I already applied because my current status is going to expire.
3. My partner is a Canadian citizen. Do I have to include him? We don't have children so do I write one or two?

Other questions:
4. If we don't have any dependents, should I remove the boxes for dependent information on IMM0008 or I should write "not applicable"?
5. Do I have to mention the vacation (out of the country) I took while employed when filling personal history on IMM5669?

Thank you!

One - there is only one person being sponsored for PR - you do NOT count your sponsor.

Remove the boxes.

5. Do I have to mention the vacation (out of the country) I took while employed when filling personal history on IMM5669?

No. No need to mention vacations in that particular section. You would only mention it there if you either took a prolonged 'leave of absence' for a few months or actually resigned and bummed around then came back and got another job etc.

Please tell me whether the information I entered on IMM5669 will cause a problem:

2017 Jan~2017 Oct: Educational activity, student status, Vancouver/ Lake Country (practicum)
2017 July~2017 Oct: Employment, student status, Lake Country (not practicum)
2017 July~2017 Aug: Employment, student status, Kelowna (not practicum)

Also, I was on a working-holiday visa, and I went to school for learning English for 3 months. The status I should select is "worker" or "others" (and hand write working holiday visa)?

I think you might confuse the poor dears and the form itself probably won't cope (plus I think you are over-thinking this)!

Bottom line is (AIUI) you were a student from Jan 2017 to Oct 2017, during which time you 'studied' or performed activities associated with your studies in a few specific locations in that time (looks like they were all in BC). Do yourself a favour and just say student Jan - Oct 2017. studying XXXXXX in BC!

Thanks for your reply. But I was employed at the same time. It was not a part of school work.

The form will definitely not accept overlaps like the one you posted above. As @Hurlabrick said, simply put educational activity from Jan to Oct, and then you can use a separate sheet of paper to additionally provide information regarding the employment.

Ok. Thank you, guys! :)

What do I write for the level of education for short term ESL?
Do I write "N/A" for a bachelor degree or "Degree" in the box where it asks "certificate or diploma issued"?
