Hi there,

I had a PR application in and it was rejected. However, I have been in a relationship with my partner for 2 years and have been living together for a year in March. We are planning on applying through common law sponsorship. I have a bridging work permit, that I got after I applied for PR, this expires in July of next year. My question is: when we apply through common law sponsorship, in March, does that mean that my current permit is void? I know I can apply for another open work permit whilst a decision is being made about the sponsorship, but do I need to do that in march or wait until I have 2 months left on my current permit?

Hope this makes sense
Thanks
