Hello all


Please I need more info on common law sponsorship,

1. Is it a must tht family member shld write letter knowing of our relationship, we have every other documents needed

2. And when we both filed in the last tax return the persons who did her tax return used her mum address on file which was were we both stay for abt 8-9 months b4 getting our own place abt 4mths ago, soy question is will this be a problem? Pls help with any info!

1. I believe that if you check the document checklist they do require a minimum of 2 declarations from third parties stating that you are in a genuine and ongoing common-law relationship. I don't believe that it says anywhere that they must be family, in fact I think it says family or friends.

2. So long as you can prove you have lived together as common-law partners for a minimum of one year that is all that matters - it's not an issue that it was in two different places, plenty of people move homes. Presumably you can prove that you lived with your mother for 8-9 months and then moved into your own place? I would add an additional explanatory note to show your living together path and make sure you have the evidence to support your claims.

Hello.

I don't know too much, I am starting the common law process now.

1. The letters from family and friends- for Americans it is listed in country specific instructions for the applicant. Check the instructions from where you are immigrating from. For America it says two statutory declarations.

2. This question is unclear. For common law you need to establish you have lived together for at least one year.
