Common Law Questions

I have a few questions

We are doing a common law application.

1: On some of the forms, you have to write the period of time you lived together. We did the statutory declaration first so the end date on that form does not match the dates on the other forms. Would that be a concern?

2: We are getting married in January. We are applying soon so the application should be there for two months by the time we actually get married. What is the best way to deal with that? Send them proof of marriage? Will they change it to a spousal app or do we have to apply again?

No it shouldn't matter.

You can send in proof of the marriage after it happens, and I believe the visa office can change it from a common-law to married application.

If you apply outland, the app should already be in the outland visa office by then so just make sure you send to appropriate address and with your UCI number.

Thanks very much!

I have one more question. Does a birth cert have to be an original or is a copy ok? Mine is in English.

it depends what country you are from, so you will need to look at your country specific instructions and see if it requires copies or originals.

Ah ok, I looked again and I should have read the introduction to the immi guide. A photocopy is good for western europe (where i'm from) or general asia (where i live) as long as it is in English. Thanks.
