Hi

I was hoping for clarification on the requirement to have lived together continuously for twelves months. I am Canadian (living in Australia) and my partner moved in with me 12 months ago. However, shortly after he moved in, I went to Canada for 4 months to work. He came to visit me at the end of the working period and we returned to our home here together. Will this still be counted as having lived together for 12 months?

Thanks

Alexandra

No. A 4 month break would 100% break the cohabitation, meaning you have to start the 12-month count from scratch again.

Your time for cohabitation would start when your partner came to visit you in Canada at end of your work there.

Agreed with Rob_TO.
