Common law partner proofs?

Hi everyone,

I am planning to land Canada with my common law partner in October. We have been living together since July 2018, but the only proof for now is our joint account bank statements. We live with my parents, so we do not have a lease, and all the other housing expenses are under my father's name. My common law partner has also changed his mobile phone data plan to our current address, is this sufficient?
Anyone has experience of proofing your common law status?

Thanks you very much!

Sorry forgot to mention, my common law partner is holding a working holiday visa, so it would be great if he can apply for PR through spousal sponsorship before his visa expires. Thanks!

Start building other proof. Your parents can make a lease for you, or sign a letter stating that you've lived with then since July. See what bills and accounts you can move to the shared address. If you won't arrive in Canada until October, you can create more proof.

Is your partner visa-exempt or do they have a visa already?

Thanks for the reply k.h.p.!

So only bank statements and mobile phone data plan bills are not sufficient?:(
I can ask my dad to change the broadband internet bill to my partner's name, but a lease is not quite possible due to our house is not suppose to rent to others. My partner is visa-exempt:)

You need to have as much proof as you can.

It most likely wouldn't be enough. Letter by your parents is a good idea. Any letters or packages that have your names and addresses, car insurance with the address, credit card statements, letters from friends showing address, hospital records, police records, identification records, pretty much anything that shows same address. Also if you have friends who've given you BOTH greeting cards or letters regarding your relationship that would be helpful to prove your relationship. I watched a video somewhere where someone in a common law relationship who had their sponsorship approved had twelve friends write letters saying they know they live together and are common law and they had those letters sworn in front of a lawyer and stamped.
