Hello,

My girlfriend and I are in the process of completing our common law application and had a question regarding the outland application. We currently reside in Canada, however I am going to be leaving the country to visit family while the application is being processed (she’s sponsoring me). I understand that when applying inland you cannot leave the country for a long period of time, however does this apply for Outland as well? For example, if I were to be out of the country for 4+ months while the application is being processed, will that affect it? Thanks!

No issues. You are good to go.

Wouldn't it affect the fact that they are commonlaw and therefore must live together to be considered as such? (Just wondering how it works).

No - it doesn't. They are applying outland. Once they have lived together for a year continuously they are good to go.
