Hi guys,

I'm wondering if there are any Brazilians out there that have gone to Canada as PR under Common Law?

My query is specific to form IMM5409E.PDF (Common Law declaration) that needs to be notarized. As you may know our public registries don't notarize documents in a foreign language (well are not supposed to)... So where can I get this thing notarized over here? The consulate are useless, they don't respond to emails and only accept calls pertaining to visa applications.

Oi gente!

Suggestion - could you hunt out an English expat lawyer to sign it?

Don't really know one over here, but you gave me a good idea, perhaps the British consulate can help... They were able to provide a true copy of my Degree for a mere 75 quid (yes, this is no joke). I'll give them a call.

Just did and they will only do this for British Nationals or local nationals with British documents. =(

Although on positive note the consulate has actually answered my email and has said:

Dear Sir.

It’s not necessary. Please attach just a simple copy of your Common Law Declaration.

Sincerely / Atenciosamente,

Consulate General of Canada / Consulat Général du Canada

So hurray to that!
