Hi everyone,

my girlfriend and I have been living together while I am in Canada on a temporary working visa. I plan on staying in Canada for a few extra months on a tourist visa once my visa expires then we are moving overseas. I would like to know if the time spent living together while i am on a tourist visa counts towards the 12 months we need in order to qualify under common law?

I have looked everywhere on the CIC site but cannot seem to find any reference to this situation.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Yes it counts, as long as you have proof of the cohabitation (like joint lease agreement, mail with shared address, joint accounts, etc).
