Hi there,
I will be applying for my WP extension soon. I am now common law married with my Canadian boyfriend, but we did not sign any documents yet (we are common law under the CIC definition of having lived together for at least 12 months etc). Now, I will declare that on the application to extend my stay as a worker, but I wonder, do I have to submit the Statutory Declaration of Common Law as well? We want to sign it and submit it with our PR application, but since we will be applying for PR later this year (after I've submitted my WP extension application), I wanted to wait with signing the declaration so that we can declare a longer time (saying we've lived together since X to (date of PR application) + mention that it's continuing). Is that possible, or is the Statutory Declaration required for the WP extension?
Also, does anyone know if there is some kind of wait period to get to the Comissioner of Oaths, or can we just show up/make an appointment and not need to wait like, a few months, before he or she is available? (are they very busy and is it advisable to book early?)
