Common-law. 12 months...'Consecutive'

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me,

Im planning on applying to extend my current 1 year visa. I have exhausted most of the other options and am now looking to do it on a commonlaw basis.

I have lived with my partner for 12 months in total however they have not been consecutive. I lived with her for 6 months in Australia and 6 months in Saskatoon, Canada. There was however, an 8 month interval between these two 6 month periods. Will this be too long of a time period to be accepted as a common law partner.

I understand that it has to be consecutive but it does also say you can be away for other reasons in between and this is allowed. Is the 8 month gap too much of a gap?

I might add that during the 8 month period I did actually live with her and her parents. I just have no documentation like I do with the other two 6 month lease agreements.

Hi i applied to as in common law category and they are particular with the requirememts.even if you said that u lived wth her without proof, they might not take it.. I have mine all documented and proof are dated accordingly.. As an advised, better wait for another 6 months to make a 12 month.anyway 6 months is not too long

Unfortunately my current visa expires in 2 months so I have no other choice but to somehow extend it. Common Law is my last shot and I think even that I might struggle with. I think the gap is too big.

If you lived with her parents during the 8 month period just get a signed affidavit from them verifying this and that will minimize your gap.
