Coming to Canada in June, do I have to pay taxes on my money?

I have work and saved money the last 5 years here working in my own country and paid my taxes. I am bringing over $50,000 CAD to Canada. I am getting married in Jan. Once my Visa is approved and get everything done I am coming to Canada. I was wondering if I have to pay taxes on my money or no cause I already paid taxes here?

Thank you, D.

Oh, you just declare you are bringing that much money to the Border Officer. If you don't and they find out, they can seize the money from you.

Oh okay someone said you can bring $10,000 if you bring more you pay taxes on it.

But I am going to be moving to Canada. So worried with $50,000.

People are often misinformed about customs matters. If you still in doubt about bringing funds $10,000 or more, check the cbsa website.

From your posts, you said you are intending to apply for permanent residence and not thinking to apply for work permit. So you can't really legally move here unless you got your visa, although you can visit Canada without a visa.

No no, getting married to my gf in Jan. But I am only bringing $3,000 with me, but when I get approved in June/July. That's what worries me.
