Good Morning!

Please can anybody explain how to travel from Buffalo Airport to the Canadian border and then onward to Toronto.

The person has expired PR Card and nobody to give a car lift. Cannot take public transport and Has to rely on other means of transport.

Are there shuttle buses which one can use to travel from Buffalo Airport to the border immigration office and after that how to travel onward to Toronto.

Are there Taxis and if yes are they regarded as Public Transport.

Thanks for your replies

Others can correct me but the public transport thing only applies if crossing the border in public transport not arriving at the crossing so just take any transport, bus, taxi to downtown Buffalo and go from there on foot through the Peace Bridge crossing.

UPDATED : Buffalo Airport to Niagara NY, cross the Rainbow Bridge into Canada is better option for pedestrians. As before any transportation to Niagara NY is fine then private car or pedestrian across.

Once through to the Canadian side take a bus or even train from Niagara to Toronto. There are a few operators but here is one

Even train service http://www.viarail.ca/en/explore-our-destinations/trains/ontario-and-quebec/toronto-niagara-falls

All this is explained from a google search so info is pretty easy to find

I do not recall if the Peace Bridge is pedestrian friendly. That is a long walk even if it is.

Public transport to downtown, near the Falls part of Niagara Falls, N.Y., would make more sense, and crossing the Rainbow Bridge to downtown Niagara Falls, Ontario. On any given summer day there are scores of people crossing the border there as pedestrians. Almost all are doing a day-trip.

Just be aware, a pedestrian crossing the border who is not making a day trip will likely draw a lot more scrutiny than others crossing that border that day. And I would think a pedestrian (if it is even allowed) on the Peace Bridge would be an even more obvious target for scrutiny.

thanks for clarifying for the OP as is many years since i crossed either and even then was in a car so tend not to notice pedestrians unless trying to not run them over of course. You are right Rainbow bridge Niagara NY is more likely the better pedestrian option I was still thinking in car mode but in case anyone is interested in the other option anyway http://www.peacebridge.com/index.php/bicyclists-pedestrians/walk-the-bridge

You can try asking a taxi cab driver to take you directly across the border. It's really up to the individual driver if they decide to do this or not. And if yes, I imagine they would charge you a separate fee.

Dear All

Thanks for your replies.

I understand from the replies that Taxis are not regarded as Public transport and one can take taxis to reach the CIC border office.

Somebody on the Forum has also written about the Megabus. Will they take somebody on board with a non-visa exempt passport, expired pr card and landing rights document. If anybody knows please tell me.

Best regards
