Coming back to Canada question

so i've been living i UY for the past 5ish years.. with DH -- my idea was to come back to canada ahead of time (not outlined on the application b/c i didnt think of it then) but since i am going to visit and I've already been approved I thought i could save a couple thousand $ and just stay once im back...
can i do that? or do i have to stay in UY with my DH until he is accepted? does it matter?
