Combining affairs

I have a question and would like some suggestions as to how we are to combine our affairs when my husband is in Egypt and I am in Canada. We opened a joint HSBC account when I was in Egypt but from my understanding it's almost impossible to get his name on anything here in Canada without him being here. Any suggestions?

Perhaps you can ask your local HSBC if your husband can set up a Canadian HSBC account.

For property purchasing in BC, you can always tell your lawyers to courier the necessary document to Egypt for him to sign and return before completion.

You can also make him a beneficiary on your life insurance. You can probably set up wills (both living and estate) naming each other without him physically being here.

My partner and I live together but also didn't have joint bank accounts, wills, bill in both names etc because it's difficult to do that here. Didn't seem to bother immigration as we provided lots of other evidence of being involved with each other's lives and families (emails between me and his family, proof of traveling together, phone bills showing calls to each other, etc). We also mentioned in statements that we combined our household affairs. I had money transferred from my Canadian account into his local account at one point... etc

I don't think immigration would find it strange that you don't have bills and accounts together when you live in different places so just make sure you provide lots of proof of other things.
