Hi,

I am recently married and my wife and I have booked tickets to come to Canada for a few months. I have applied for my IEC but my wife has already used her IEC and so is no longer eligible to work in Canada.

I am intending on working in Canada for about a month doing seasonal work and then travelling for a couple more months around Canada before heading overseas again. As my wife cannot work in Canada anymore our thoughts were that she would come with me on a visitor visa as I worked for a short while to bolster funds.

Really I'm just wanting to know if there is a precedent for this and whether or not she will be turned away at the border because of the combined nature of our Visas.

All help massively appreciated!

It is a risk - you are trying to convince the border guys that you are there to work and at the same time that your wife is not.

Have proof of funds to be able to support the both of you for your full time planned in Canada - your ongoing flights or travel plans already booked would likely be helpful too.

Thank you for your response. I had thought about doing all those things. We will definitely be heading over with a considerable amount of money and tickets out of the country and won't be staying in Canada for more than 6 months so here's hoping!

If they did turn her away at the border would they send both of us back or just her?

Thanks again
