Hello Everyone,
I will be eligible to apply for my citizenship on Dec 2, 2017. I don't want to waste my time to gather my all documents at the last min and some documents may take some time. I would like to ask few questions regarding documents. Please assist me

1. The police clearance certificate from back home may take 1 month and I am thinking to apply now. How old is the PCC acceptable at CIC/IRCC? 6 months? I guess
2. This year, I renewed my Indian passport and split my name (First name + last name) or change my name on it. I think I need name change certificate from the province (Ontario) where I live but do I need to change my name on PR card according to new passport and name change certificate before I apply for citizenship?
3. I can't find my birth certificate, I think I lost it. Do we need a birth certificate in citizenship application or no? if yes, then I will try to get a new birth certificate.
4. What other documents can take a long time and I should start applying or collecting those documents?

I would really appreciate if someone can help me with these questions!

Have a great day!

Best,

1. 6 months maximum
2. if you ask me , i will have said dont bother about the name thing but please read instruction guide there is a place where it says name must match immigration document , this includes PR card your COPR and landing statement or something please look in on that, whichever is your latest document must have the name match your citizenship application. so i dont think that might be an issue, other should please clarify
3. so far we dont need birth certificate am due and yet to submit
4.) PCC is the only document i know takes a while, everyothe thing is something you have or have had before.

Yep...
I will recommend that you follow the checklist to collect required documents.

Only send what is in the check list, no more no less.

Further double check the checklist and application forms in December, sometimes there is a change.

Birth certificate are required for minors only.

ibry,
Thank you for the reply and your time!

I changed my name on new Indian passport but my name on PR and COPR is according to an old passport!

Devilhimselff, I will be following the checklist for sure. But I wanted to confirm the validity of PCC and name change certificate thing.

Thanks,

PCC are usually 6 months.
Name changes are always a tricky thing, make sure you follow all required documentation for name change verification etc. I will definitely give cic a call too, so that you get an official answer for reference.
