Hi,
My parents immigration is on last step where CIC is asking option C. However, I have unique situation that my co signer refuse to provide option C. I am on long term disability due to some medical condition but I have more than enough income thru long term disability payment to meet the requirement of sponsorship. Just wonder if my co signer doesn't provide option C and I just send my details with enough income will be ok or if you have any other advise.

If you had enough to cover LICO, why did you add a co-signer in the first place? I think you will be fine if you only provided option C yourself but don't take my word for it. Your spouse may not have a choice but to provide Option C since he / she agreed to be co-signer. This is to confirm that you both qualified LICO during the entire PGP process to landing date. Your spouse can't pick and choose what to provide to IRCC. If IRCC wants option C from him/her, then he / she needs to provide it. That is the condition of being a co-signer.

Thanks for reply. Yes but if she doesn't provide Option C then CIC might kill application. I don't think CIC can force her to provide Option C form. Do I have choice now to remove her as cosigner and provide my document?

IRCC will certainly not force her to provide the Option C. It is entirely her choice if she provides it. If she doesn't provide it, IRCC will assume she no longer supports the application and will assess it based on your income alone.

Thanks. So other part of my problem is that I am on medical leave but I get more than enough money as part of long term disability payments. Is that going to be issue?

Are these payments from your employer or from the government?

Sp part of the payments thru MetLife insurance (long term benefits insurance thru my employer and part of it from government)
I'm not sure if disability payments from the government can be counted towards LICO.

Guess there's not much you can do at this point. Either IRCC will accept it or they won't.

Just read about income from government if on disability.
Who isn’t eligible to sponsor a parent or grandparent
You may not be eligible to sponsor your parents and grandparents if you
  • received government financial assistance for reasons other than a disability.
What you think?

It's not really relevant to your question. All that does is clarify that those who are on disability can still sponsor. It doesn't state if disability payments can be included in the LICO calculation or not.

Only 1 thing I heard they don't like to count is Social Welfare/assistance incomes, any other payments from any insurances etc are OK. A copy from web:-
You may NOT sponsor if you…
  • are in receipt of social assistance for a reason other than disability,
  • are in default of an undertaking, an immigration loan, a performance bond, or family support payments,

Question 12. – Calculation of income based on the “Notice of Assessment”

12.B: Enter all of the following payments that were included in the amount at line 150 of your Notice of Assessment, add them up and print the total:

  • Provincial instruction or training allowance;
  • Social assistance paid by a province;
  • Guaranteed income supplement paid under the Old Age Security Act; and
  • Employment insurance: maternity, parental and sickness benefits paid under the Employment Insurance Act are considered income. Other payments such as employment insurance and federal training allowances are not considered as income.
  • Maternity/parental/sickness benefits: maternity, parental and sickness benefits paid under the Employment Insurance Actare considered income. Other payments such as employment insurance and federal training allowances are not considered as income.

Question I like to ask you. Will your PGP application gets denied if your cosigner withdraws the support. Will you fail any of the LICO requirement at any given year from start to end if cosigner withdraws.
