Current Status:
My co-op work permit is valid until July 31, 2019. I am planning to apply for PGWP as soon as I complete my studies by end of April 2019. Currently, I am being considered for a full-time offer with my current co-op employer.
I want to ask if it is possible to work as full-time on a permanent basis immediately after my co-op term given that my co-op work permit is valid until July 31, 2019? Or, do I need to apply for the PGWP first so I can start working on a permanent basis? Would working part-time while I apply for PGWP be an option?
The manager said that the position is urgent and holding it off longer won't work for her.
These are the remarks under my co-op work permit document:
- Must leave Canada by 2019-07-31
- Not authorized to work for any employer other than stated
- Not valid for employment in businesses related to sex trade
- Employment practicum cannot form more than 50% of the total program of study
- Must form integral part of studies
