Dear friend:
If you are trying to chose among either university or college then consider few points;

1: Apply in good ranking university (TRU is not bad not good. It is located in Kamloops, which is really small city so job options after completion or even during study at campus recruitment is very minimum).
Co-OP is good for resume building, but first chose your field on interest. i.e in TRU r are planning for Finance and in Other college ur course is totally different..Check your previous experience or study history then apply in relevant course..Many student apply in colleges or in universities without thinking ..So check job market of your course first then apply..

2: It is not guaranteed that you will get co-op in your desired college.As you have to maintain good GPA for co-op approval. So study hard and make links with employees during study. Many students get job after graduation on same company where they worked on co-op basis.

So in short get admission in better university, because in Canada, companies hire student while they are in final semester . And in well reputed universities, obviously more companies come for recruitment stalls, so chances are very high you will get job in final year, even you have no co-op, but have better GPA. But in colleges companies hesitate to go for campus recruitment.

thanks for replying bro..

sory i made a mistake abt the name of d course..im up for post bacc in MARKETING from TRU..dose skills are like inside me..i knw how to market myself well..so dat way d skill set part is covered.

regarding d avg stature of d University-i am not eligible for masters from a good university ryt now oderwise wud hav gone for that instead of post bacc from TRU..coz firstly i hav a 3 year bachelors degree and dat that too correspondence.so i dnt meet the 16yrs education criteria wich is of prime importance fr entering gud universities..so maybe later on once i gain some valuable canadian experience after completion of dis post bacc. or grad cert i might go fr masters in my field depending on wat d job market demands at dat point of tym..

so now dat leaves me with no option other dan going to TRU or a college..so u thnk out of the two i shud prefer d university and sacrifice d co-op?
i knw co-op is not assured bt i sure am willing to work hard fr it..but as u say employers kinda hesitate in going to coleges for recruiting people so dat acts a detterent in goin fr a college..

so final call man...u gotta help me here...TRU or george brown college?

Where you graduate from wont make much difference when you go looking for a job. Unfortunately, in most cases it will come down to work experience and co-op will be the deciding factor. Of course, nobody can guarantee that you will find a co-op job since it all depends on what you have to offer the employer (very much like an actual job ), expectations are low for co-op jobs and lack of work experience is less of an issue.

Where a university can help is the availability of resources for finding a job post graduation. Normally, universities may have better resources available to students to help them find a job after graduating. But when it comes to the real world job hunting, experience always wins over the name of the school on your certificate.

also, not necessarily true what the other poster said about employer preferring university over colleges and getting job offers in final years. even A-level students need to prove their worth somehow (mostly through co-ops) before they get hired. In some cases, really good co-op jobs require previous co-op experience.

It depends on what the employer is looking for in a candidate that will determine if he looks at colleges or universities. Colleges offer more work-ready graduates with more hands on specialized skills (depending on the program). Universities usually offer graduates with a broad knowledge of a lot of things but no specializing (unless you graduate with a specialization).
