Hi

I am new to this forum but i am happy that I have found such useful platform. When I was looking at my closed work permit recently I found something and I am worried

now.

I came to Canada few months back and my Closed work permit has three conditions

1. NOT AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN ANY OCCUPATION OTHER THAN STATED
2. NOT AUTHORIZED TO WORK FOR ANY EMPLOYER OTHER THAN STATED
3. NOT AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN ANY LOCATION OTHER THAN STATED.

I am working at client's office and Work Permit location has name of client office's city (Hamilton). So I am fine with that.

But my client has office in other city (Ottawa) as well and due to some requirements I am working at that office since last week and return back to current office next week or so.

Since my employer, client and job is same, I am not violating condition 1 and 2.
But I am working in Ottawa so have I done violation of condition 3? I am getting nervous about it.

Nobody asked me for my work permit at client location in Ottawa (They checked initially when I joined their office). My employer also did not tell me anything. Perhps nobody is aware of location related restriction.

Your answer will be of a great help.

You may be working outside of the conditions of the work permit, therefore illegally. Will anyone find out, who knows... If you got caught up in a random check by IRCC or CBSA, things may be "unpleasant".

I had a similar situation with my closed WP

The advise given was, as long as the invoice/wages audit trail goes through your WP stated office you'll be fine

Now please don't take my word as gospel, seek some advice

Many thanks

Ben

For a couple of weeks, where the move is very temporary, you may be ok, assuming that no other changes are made, such as pay etc.
I suspect that a lot would depend on exactly what you do for a job. If you are flipping burgers for example, I can imagine it being a real problem. However, if you were just on assignment installing new software, it might not be an issue. Caveat Emptor.
