I am currently in Canada on a valid closed work permit (ICT). My permit was valid only for a year and it ends in March 2020. My wife is working full time on open work permit. I have Express Entry profile but I dont have enough points yet to secure an invite. However, after 1 year of experience (same date when work permit expires), I should get Canadian experience points. My company is willing to apply for work permit extension, but current processing time for WP extension is almost 4 months. I don't know if my extension application will be approved or denied, therefore want to be prepared with back up options so that both of us can continue to stay/work. My questions are:

  1. Will I get Job Offer CRS points (after I complete an year with employer on LMIA exempt job BUT THE WORK PERMIT GETS DENIED - but employer still willing to support and provide job offer letter)?

  2. Since processing time line is long, it seems the extension result might come well after the WP expires. Can BOTH of us continue to work till we get the result without any additional process?

  3. If somehow I am able to secure CRS min points and gets invited before WP extension results come thru (but after current WP expires), am I eligible for BOWP (if I can submit the application)?

Thanks in advance to your responses and suggestions!

1. No.
2. Yes - you can continue to work on implied status until a decision is made in your application.
3. No - you need to be holding a valid work permit at the time you apply for a BOWP.

Thanks for the response!
Regarding #1 - Would I get job offer points during the implied status period? If get ITA and am able to submit the documents while I am waiting for extension result, will job offer points be considered valid?

To the best of my knowledge - yes. But of course the extension must ultimately result in an approval.
