CLB equivalency?

Hi there,

My latest Ielts result is
L = 8
R =8.5
S = 8
W = 6.5

Overal band =8

Please tell me what is the overall CLB for this result 8 0r 9? Since of the provinces are looking for overall CLB=8, in which condition writing is equal to 7. This result fits even CLB 11 in Reading & Speaking & CLB 9 in Listening, whereas inWriting it is CLB 8. Can I consider my overall score as CLB 9 or 8?

I am not sure if you can map it directly to CLB level but Express entry has different logic. I would suggest you should put your points in CRS calculator and check your final score.

The CLB level grading is as mentioned here:

CLB LEVEL 9: L 8.0 R 7.0 W 7.0 S 7.0
CLB LEVEL 8 L 7.5 R 6.5 W 6.5 S 6.5

Now, to achieve any CLB level, you must have minimum bands in each module meaning even falling short on any of the module by even 0.5 bands won't give you that CLB level so in your case you are currently at CLB level 8 only. I know this because I have faced almost similar situation. Thus, you won't be awarded with additional points of CLB level 9 but you should now be eligible to enter your file in EE.
