Dear Sirs,
Last year I applied for FSW category. I received acknowledgement for that in the month of December 2012. But in June 2012 I received the letter from Immigration visa officer that my application is rejected due to education points is lesser. They gave the points as below for my application assessment

Age l 0 - l 0
Education l 5 - 25
Experience 21 - 2 l
Arranged employment 0 - l 0
Offi cial languagep rofic iency 12 - 24
Adaptability 4 - l 0
TOTAL 62 - 100

But my education is:

Primary & secondary school - 10 years (full time) +
Pre-university college - 2 years (full time) and
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering - 3 years (full time)

So, I have total 15 years FULL TIME education.

My spouse education:

Primary & secondary school - 10 years (full time) +
Pre-university college - 2 years (full time) and
Bachelor of Arts - 3 years degree (full time)

I want to know according to present points system as of Canada Immigration how many points I can get for my education....

Please give me the clear picture of points to my education.

I hope you will revert me soon for my kind request.

Going by the official guide I calculate your education points as 20:
A university degree of two years or more at the Bachelor’s level, AND at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study 20

Actually 22, 15 years education plus a 3 year diploma. If the school where he received the diploma was not recognized, then 5 points.

Write to the IO once again and request them to consider your case, as there has been a mistake in points calculation. Be kind and concise in ur use of words.

Provide supporting documents like transcripts to support ur claims.

For me, there is definitely some mistake on their part. Your education points should be 20 and not 15.

I wish u luck and all the wishes that they consider ur case. whats ur VO?

You should at least get 67 point i.e if you assign 20 points on your education (but you could be assigned 22 points for education) (Year 12 is high school completion, then you have three year of diploma and 15 years of full time studies).

I looked at the 3 year diploma PMM, but discounted that as he said it was a DEGREE. Seems unfair that they don't give as many points to a degree, but I thought perhaps "they" think a three year diploma applicant might have a better chance of getting work, compared to a single degree holder, thus higher points given. Just a hunch.
