Hello guys,

I need some clarification regarding the work experience requirement for applying PR under CEC.

My situation is as follows:

I started my full-time job which falls under NOC A on June 20, 2022. I got my pgwp on June 28th. I am waiting to complete one year to apply for my PR under CEC. However i got laid off from my job a couple of days ago and my last day will be May 26th, 2023. Technically I will be completing only 11 months of work experience. Some of my friends are suggesting that IRCC will only look at month and year so my experience will be counted as June 2022 to May 2023 which is one year and I would be eligible under CEC. I want to get clarity on this. Should I apply for PR now or wait till I get a new job and complete one month of work there and then file for PR. I have my PGWP valid until June 2025. My CRS score according to the tool is 512( keeping Canadian experience as 1 year)

Please advise on what is best to do in this scenario.

Technically, the system would clock you as doing one year (based on months). However, when you submit your employment documentation it will show that you were laid off in May 2023 exactly one month before your actual work anniversary. The officer may reject your application because you did not meet the work requirement at the time ITA was received. You have plenty of time to find another job a work another month, do not run the risk of your application being returned. work another month to be 100% certain.
