Hi guys,

In the process of filling out application for my wife and am confused about the latest requirement on the medical exam. The document checklist states - Copy 1 of Medical Report IMM 1017 is to be provided. Do I have to take that form with me or is the doctor supposed to have it?

Also, are we supposed to do it beforehand and attach it with the completed application or do we wait till they ask for it to be done? Considering it is only valid for one year, it would make sense to do it at a later time but if the document checklist asks for it then I guess you have to send it in?

Also, for outland applications does the medical have to take place in the country of citizenship of the sponsored person? Or can it happen in Canada if she is visiting me on a TRV?

My husband had his medical done in Canada, so yes it is perfectly ok for her to do as well. The medical form is to accompany the application, if it is on the checklist and pertains to you then it is required. Book the medical just before you are ready to submit the application to take advantage of the potential year of processing. You don't need to bring the form, the doctor will provide it once the medical is complete. Good luck :)
