EDIT: Never mind, I did a proper search and found my answer on this forum, apparently there's no way to avoid the 12 month wait if I don't have a full license from the UK. I'll look into the programs which can reduce the wait to 8 months though.
Hi there,
I'm moving to Toronto in a couple of days. I'm from the UK (dual Canadian citizenship) and unfortunately given the sudden nature of my move I never got around to completing my practical driving test in the UK. I have read that there is a 12 month waiting period for new learners in Ontario before they get the upgraded version (G2). Is there any way to fasten this process? As although I will need some practice, it would be quite the inconvenience for work purposes if I have to wait 12 months. I do recall having read online that there is a way to claim experience but I can't seem to find it again, and I'm not sure if this only applies to those already with a license, or learners like me.
Any thoughts much appreciated!
