I just wanted to confirm that someone taking action against me in a small claims court setting (Under $2000 accidental property damage) would not have any effect on an application to emigrate to Canada under the spousal sponsorship residency? Thanks.

I dont think so, as long as if the other party get the judgement and you pay for that judgement, there wont be any effect on your application.
