Citizenship through deceased parent?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post but I figured I'd go for it. My grandmother was born in Nova Scotia, Canada in the 40's, and moved to Massachusetts as a teenager. My mother was born in Massachusetts, but is now thinking of getting her Canadian citizenship. My grandmother (my mothers mother) passed away in 2013. Would it still be possible to get a citizenship through a deceased parent? If so, would it be possible for me to get my citizenship through my mother if she got hers? Any info is helpful!

Your mother qualifies for Canadian citizenship as the first generation born abroad. Unfortunately you do not.
