Okay there are a couple of things wrong with this post so I'll address them individually:

1) Inferring that you mean applying for the citizenship when you say you will be "applying for the test", it is way too soon to begin studying for the test. Like way, way too soon. You possibly have another year till you sit for the test, probably even more. You cannot possibly expect yourself to remember the details come test day when studying this far ahead. Unless you plan on studying routinely every single week till your test, your studying is futile. Leading to my next point:

2) The citizenship test does not in reality require you to memorize every single detail in the book. I suggest you go through some practise tests to get a feel for what is important. From experience and anecdotes, skimming through the "Discover Canada" booklet should suffice. After that, your focus should be on doing as many practise tests you can get your hands on and noting down any questions you consistently get wrong. Doing this will allow you to prioritize on which details you personally are struggling with. Then you can revisit the booklet as needed. This is the same strategy I use when giving my drivers license knowledge test and the same one I use in my University assessments; in both of those cases, this strategy has worked. It is the same advice you will get from anyone else who has done well for the test by the way.

Everything BOYX said, plus, yes when you do start to study it know the facts under the picture. Several friends who took the test in the past said you should know this info. The practice tests will also include questions on it.
