Dear Friends,

I've received an email stating that my online citizenship test was not accepted. Could anyone please guide me on the next steps? Specifically:

1. What's the process for retaking the test?
2. How long does it typically take to receive a new test invitation?

I'd greatly appreciate any advice or insights you can share.

How long after taking the test did you receive the notice?

It happens when they have an issue with verifying if the test was done correctly. Sometimes it is a technical issue, sometimes they want to make sure about the integrity of the test taken.

Re-tests are rare but I had a client who was asked to do the test again, conducted by a citizenship officer on microsoft teams.

Nobody knows how long it takes. IRCC is a black box even immigration practitioners like me often have no idea what is going on inside this black box.

Thank you for your response. I received an email 3 days after submitting the test. You mentioned it's rare to have a re-test. Could you please clarify what this means?

Specifically:

1. What are the next steps if no re-test is offered?
2. Could my location outside of Canada be the reason for the test not being accepted?

I appreciate your guidance on this matter.

They will send you another invitation to retake the test, either online, online via Microsoft Teams, or in person. You'll just need to wait for further instructions. I believe they will offer you another opportunity, and the chances of refusal are minimal.

If your application is refused, you may reapply, but you will need to pay the fees again.

As for your location outside Canada, the instructions requiring applicants to notify IRCC by email have been removed for some time. I haven't seen any recent guidance on this, so your location should not be a problem.

I'd say don't stress about it. Just relax and wait.
