Citizenship Test and/or Interview and CJ reference ?

If anybody can answer this question.

We applied citizenship recently in Oct 2013....following questions are puzzling my brain.

1. Once you are called for citizenship and completes it with passing score would that be sufficient to get called for oath unless you get a post test RQ?

2. will there be an interview with local office staff/judge to test your english again, this is even though you submitted a proof of english competency i.e., education ? failing which puts you through citizenship Judge's descrition?


I have the 2nd question becuase one user from missisauga office reported that he/she was pushed to CJ interview enthough she passed the test, not really sure if that is becuase she couldnt explain an entry in her passport or couldnt reply properly in english.

Any response on this highly appreciated.

1. Yes. If you pass the test and interview and do not get a post test RQ, then the next step is the oath
2. Yes. Everyone gets a standard interview. The interviewer will judge your English/French skills during the interview.

May be this is a test for functional english to make sure, if this is the case then why they need proof of english ?

The interview is not about language(Eng/Fre) Only and I would even say it's not about testing language skills at all. Indeed it's about clarifying any holes in the application and checking all your travel documents. During interview you may be asked the same questions on the form to see if there is any discrepancy. I read somewhere about someone who was asked about a store in the neighborhood he claimed to live in (I think that was in Montreal) he had no clue what it was ....conclusion... maybe he wasn't living there!!

Yes, this is true. But they also use it to judge your language skills if they need to. Because I only sent in a copy of my diploma and didn't take any language test, I got a slip of paper from CIC saying that they will confirm my language competency during the basic interview. They didn't ask me anything special to test my language skills, they were able to figure it out by listening to my responses to the regular questions.
