Hi!
I became a Pr in January 2014 so won't be eligible for citizenship for a while now (boo).
However my Canadian born husband and I are considering moving to the US for work purposes - I know that I can retain my Pr status as I'm married to a citizen but do my days with him also count towards any citizenship eligibility too?
Thank you for your help!

You can count the days you are in US towards maintaining of permanent resident status while you are accompanying with your Canadian husband subject to provide proofs when you will apply to renew your PR card. But to qualify for citizenship under the new law you will need be in Canada physically 4 years out of 6 years.

Unfortunately just because your husband is Canadian born doesn't mean you can retain your PR status while living with him overseas. Also those days won't count towards your citizenship unless your husband works for the government, in the military or any Canadian company.

Hi Goldline,

unfortunately your answer for the first part of the question is not correct....time spent out of canada while accompanying a canadian husband or wife totally counts towards meeting the RO (residency obligation) to maintain a pr status if the applicant can prove it of course.
refer to cic manual for permanent residency obligations to find more info.
