Hi all,

My wife and I just had our first baby about a week ago. We are both permanent residents and have been living in Canada since 2010. I was hoping that someone could help me clarifying the following doubts:

- Is my baby automatically a Canadian citizen?
- If not, can I apply her for the citizenship?
- Can I start the application for the Canadian Passport right now, or have to wait for the citizenship status first?

Thank you in advance.
Regards
S

Yes, your baby is a Canadian citizen. Once you get the birth certificate, you can apply for the passport. No need of citizenship certificate.
