CIC called in and asked to interview my 5 years old son. This is after I did the test and Went through the interview, passport check, etc.
Is this legal?
Why would I want my child to go get interviewed at such a small age?
Any suggestions?

I am sure it is not a real interview, they just want to see his face. However, I have never heard of this before and have no idea if it is common.

"Why would I want my child to go get interviewed at such a small age?" Because you want him to get citizenship? Of course you can also tell them to go jump and see what happens. You can always apply for him again later when he is older.

Thanks Leo.
I guess it's ok if it's just a standard check. It's just that I thought it was like a formal interview!
guess i might have over reacted.

we were just talkign about this this morning me and my wife, cic's tactics is to ask children about things to get their parents in trouble. She told me she heard a lot of people got kicked out of the country because of what their kids said. they send representatives to schools now to see if your kids are really there and not back in home countries. I am on a temporary work permit, and when we firs tcame here they sent an agent referred from school undercover she said she is a social worker who wants to help us and she asked my wife a million questions, My wife told her we could never seek help cause we are temporary but my wife knew all along she was a cic spy making sure we have a visa.

It's reasonable for a parent to be concerned about their minor child being interviewed by authorities. Just because we choose to immigrate here, we do not have to waive our basic rights and that of our children in the process, not even for citizenship. If you are uncomfortable but still want to get it over with, you can show up, express your concerns and request to be present throughout the interview. Remain calm and respectful.

Frankly, I can't imagine that they want to interview a 5 yo. child without the parent but if they do, it is your right to refuse and go home with your child. Let us know how it goes

I want to share my experience and thank those who have replied to this thread.
CIC wanted to see my son and make sure he is in the country.
They said it is a new procedure. The lady was very pleasant and all she did was ask a few basic questions.
I am very sensitive to anything that looks like an interrogation, and that's why I was concerned.
Where I come from, any government rep asking any question is an interrogation!
I am quite pleased with how this has come out.

I am glad that it went well. I also would never have suspected that they wanted to interrogate the child.

Where I come from if they really wanted to interrogate you, you would need new teeth afterwards, and new balls.
