Citizenship in less than a month

I think the new government should come up with a proposal where the Canadian Citizenship should not take so long, max 2 to 4 weeks. I don't even understand the reason for the citizenship test, where they ask questions about other provinces and territories. Ive met many applicants who have even become the citizens long long ago but if you ask them the simplest of questions they would not know, so whats the use. I know if we are Citizens of certain country we should know the basics like history, geography, population, political background etc etc of that country.
I mean look at the time and resources used in granting citizenship, I don't deny the fact that thorough checkup is required but for some it becomes the nuisance. There are applicants who have made Canada there home, their kids going to school, they work here, made friends and have no intention whatsoever of going back, they get frustrated with the slow procedure of getting citizenship. Couple of days less in the residency requirements should also be overlooked if they see that they have well settled here in Canada and have become part of Canada.
Any takers ......
Any more opinions........

You want to be citizen of convenience or what
You did not question language English or French requirement because it does not apply to you.

Here are my opinions

1) Why should a couple of days less be "overlooked"? Why not simply apply a few days later when you are eligible? Canada wants people who are committed to Canada to become citizens. The 4 out of 6 years residency partly confirms that commitment. The line has to be drawn somewhere. Simply make sure you meet the residency requirement before applying. If you are a few days short, wait a few days, then apply.

2) CIC has introduced a new process, reducing processing times from the TWO YEARS it used to be to only 3 to 6 months it is going to be for new applicants. Firstly the 2 weeks you suggest is impossible, since they have to give notice of the citizenship test which is usually a month. Then the application has to physically get from Nova Scotia to the local CIC office for processing. I think 3 months is a very reasonable timeframe.

3) The citizenship test is really once again about commitment. Firstly it demonstrates you have taken the time to learn about Canada's history and geography and government system etc. Secondly it also acts as a secondary language test - in the event people submit fraudulent language proof (which does happen regrettably), the candidate still has to understand English or French well enough to answer the test questions.

Personally I find the new streamlined process very reasonable.

If I had any criticism at all it would be on the processing fees. In 2015 CIC raised the price of the processing fees from $300 per adult to $530 per adult, an increase of 56% - so including the right of citizenship fee 2 adults ($100 adult) would cost $1260 for processing. This does seem very expensive especially for an application where all documents are present and correct and in order. CIC say that the new processing costs actually represent around 90% of the actual cost to them, which I find hard to believe. But it is what it is.

But you feel 3 months is too long to wait, and some time studying for a fairly simple test is too much for you to bother with, the solution is simple. Do not apply.

Citizenship in 2 - 4weeks? Like Seriously? Does Study permit or even PR application take that quick? Please note that the MORE easier our immigration process is the more easier people will be exploiting it to their advantage.

Security checks take weeks or even months depending on it complexity and other factors.

All I know is that a bloody citizenship application shouldn't take three times as long to process as the original immigration application. Moreover, it shouldn't take as long to process as the qualifying period of residence for citizenship itself.

The steamlining of the process has reduced two year time limits to 3 to 6 months.
I don't know many PR applications which were processed in less than 6 months, do you?

Qualifying period of residence is 4 years - do you know citizenship applications that took/are taking 4+ years to process? Around 2 years was the longest waiting period even under the old system.

Nobody in right senses would ever expect CIC to ignore the security of our country. We have legal system in place, punish the wrong doers to the maximum but dont suspect and punish every applicant.

Certainly, its NOT security, CIC is hiding their own broken system and weakness behind security excuse to justify infinite delays.

Why can't CIC ascertain the eligibility of applicant within first 3 months. If they found ineligible, give the candidates option either to withdraw or wait for 3 years to have hearing with Citizenship Judge. CIC may as well deduct a small part of the application fee (Admin charges) for sending the ineligible applications.

Due to unknown reasons, CIC keeping everyone in the dark for 4 years, all the while showing status "In Process" , keeping their staff busy unnecessarily, candidates clueless and call center on their edge.

Its fundamental problems with CIC entire workflow and seems bureaucrats are clueless or enjoying the chaos to prolonging their jobs.
