Citizenship for child born in Canada

Hi,

I would like to know whether a child born in Canada will become citizen automatically. Then, can my spouse and me have dependent visa because our kid become a citizen?

Unless your spouse is not a diplomat, the child born in Canada would be automatically Canadian. However, there would be no dependent visa for you and your spouse.

Your child would be a Canadian citizen. (Although the government is currently thinking of modifying rules regarding "anchor babies".)

You and your spouse would not be able to use your child's citizenship status to obtain residency visas.
