Is there anybody have info about the citizenship fee waiver? I remember that I read a thread in this forum that mentioned this fee is going to be eliminated in 2023.

Liberals made this announcement in late 2019. It was not tied to the year 2023.

They haven't made good on this and this commitment was made pre-pandemic. I personally wouldn't count on it becoming real.

And with the huge backlogs, the only thing I can imagine them doing is raising fees to cover the costs of hiring more agents to tackle the backlog, much less eliminate them, for the foreseeable future.

I would not bet on it happening any time soon. They can't even handle the volume of new applications plus the backlog right now. If they let every eligible person apply for free then be prepared to wait decades for citizenship.
