Hi there,
I'm applying for my passport and I couldn't find this addressed anywhere and it seems like a small detail, but I don't want to mess it up since I will be traveling soon and can't afford to reprocess the app.
The passport application PDF does not have a character restriction on the "Certificate number" field and the corresponding section in the instructions does not provide any additional detail as to whether or not the initial letter in the certificate of Canadian citizenship number is to be included as part of the number or just the numerical digits. I'm inclined to think it's just the numerical digits ignoring the first letter, but if someone could verify if that's the case that would be really helpful.
They will have the original certificate as part of the application, but I think it's always best to make sure everything is correct across the board.
Thanks in advance,
Z
