Hello everyone,
i applied for my son's Citizenship Certificate in October last year and whenever I ask the embassy, they say it hasnt been done yet and it may take another year or so. after asking so many times, they gave me some sort of 'file' number which is a mix of letters and numbers
i wasnt able to check the status on eCAS, keeps saying 'not able to identify you'

1. is this normal?
2. how many digits is the application number usually? is it made of letters or/and numbers?

thx guys!

You've applied for what is called 'Proof of Citizenship'. According to the IRCC website, it takes 15 months for the process to be completed. Did you receive an AOR? If you did, you should be able to find the status on ECAS. Try using your UCI and your application number on ECAS.

And yes, the application number is a mixture of letters and numbers (probably one letter and rest all numbers?).

Good luck!

I applied online in November and still waiting for an update. I also keep getting the same reply stating that it is taking 15 to 24 months to process proof of citizenship applications. Since I applied online I got the file number from there.
