hi all,
i will give birth to my girl next month. I am a HK citizen , my husband a Canadian citizen by birth, so our girl can be entitled to have the citizenship.
My husband currently resides in Canada, me in Hong Kong.
I will plan to apply for the citizenship certificate after our baby is born. I checked on the hk consulate website, saying that -
i need to submit the following -
1. Original birth certificate which lists parents’ names.
2. Original proof (Canadian birth certificate or Canadian citizenship card) confirming that one or both of the parents was a canadian citizen at the time of the applicant’s birth;
My questions are -
1. Will I get the original documents back ?
2. For original proof as stated in no.2 as above, does it mean my husband's birth certificate ? Will we need to submit original ? I heard from him that he just has the small size original on hand, not the large one sealed ? (I don't know the difference between the two). What else can he submit as the "original proof" ? Isn't it clear enough to say he was born in Canada as shown on the passport ?
Thanks for reply in advance. Since we live apart, and he will come to Hong Kong next month, I must get him bring the necessary documents when he will be here...
