Hi everyone. :)

I'm wondering if someone can give me some advice please. Do CIC hold Oath ceremonies around the Christmas holiday time and new year?

I am waiting to take my citizenship oath to become Canadian. Earlier this month I had my citizenship test on November 6th at Scarborough and passed no problem. At the test, we were all told to wait 2-4 months to come back to take our oath... but some people seem to have it after one month.

I would like to travel to see family for the holidays for 2-3 weeks but do not want to miss my oath. I looked on the CIC website and they currently show no citizenship ceremonies in Scarborough for December. Some provinces have them up until Dec 18. Anybody know if Oaths have happened before in late December/Early January?

Thanks for any help and answers. I do not want to make a mistake. I am excited to become Canadian but the wait and not knowing if I should travel for the holidays is stressing me out.

Hi there! I was wondering if you ever got an answer whether oaths happen over the holiday season or not. I'm facing similar situation as you did last year, and trying to figure out which dates are safe for a Christmas vacation abroad. Thanks so much for any help you may be able to provide.

Keep checking online especially towards end of November and you should see December schedule (if any ceremonies are planned). It's hard to plan one's life around what CIC will/won't do. I believe the website says if you are going to travel for 2 weeks or more, that you should notify CIC so that you are not scheduled for test. That's one option or you can stay in Canada and wait, not knowing if you really will be scheduled or not. Goodluck!
