I'm a CDN citizen living in Japan, married to a Japanese citizen. We recently had a baby and lan to go to Canada for a vacation in August. Because my wife is busy with work this summer, I will be leaving with my child first, and she will follow in a week. this is only a vacation and we are returning to Japan. A few questions about the situation:

1. Can I apply for a limited validity passport at the same time as the citizenship card?
2. If yes, where can I find the documents for a ltd. validity passport for a child under 2 years old?
3. Will I be held up at CDN immigration if i show up with my daughter and her Japanese passport?
4. If I apply for and get a ltd validity passport, do I really need to apply for a regular passport, or should I just wait until it runs out (2 years, I think) and then get a regular one?

thanks for any help you can provide

1. First of all you have to apply for proof of citizenship http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
2. Once you have evidence that you have applied, (you don't need to have received) you apply to CHC in Tokyo for a limited validity passport using the http://www.ppt.gc.ca/form/pdfs/pptc042.pdf
3. Note you will need a notarized letter from the spouse to allow you to travel to Canada with the child.
