Citizenship By Descent

Hi there

I applied for citizenship by descent based on the fact that my grandfather was serving overseas in WW2 at the time of my father's birth in the UK. My father does not currently have proof of Canadian citizenship.

I submitted my documents over 14 months ago through Canada House. They were sent to Canada in June last year. I was told in February:
" that the application has been placed in a queue for assessment by a senior officer because of a policy or legislative issue pertaining to the case. No additional information is available, and they are unable to provide processing times, as these vary on a case-by-case basis"

In May I was told that the application was still being processed. I was told that if I submitted an air ticket for travel to Canada within 6 months I could get the application expedited.

Has anybody come across this before? Will my application ever get resolved if I don't buy an air ticket....?

Click here to learn about urgent processing for a proof of citizenship. Based on what you're written on your post, I don't think you would qualify since it states that you needed to have proof of air travel within 6 months following the date of your application, and that you also had already applied for a Canadian passport at the same time with your citizenship application. The agent you talked to probably forgot.

My application has been in Program Support for 13 months now; when I called them last month, the agent said that he could not do anything on my behalf until after 24 months, and that I would just have to wait until then. So unless you qualify for urgent processing, you just got to wait too.

Hi Susmad, i read the scenario in your post, and it is the same as mine in terms of citizenship by descent. I submitted my application to Canada House in February 2021 but yet to hear anything. I was wondering, did you ever get your Canadian citizenship certificate, and if so was it as a grandchild of a WW2 Crown Servant? Many thanks
