Hello,

Wondering if anyone can answer this question... My mother has to apply for her citizenship but she was told that she will need her birth certificate. My grandparents are not alive and she does not have a birth certificate. Has anyone else faced a similar issue or know of a work around? Thanks.

I thought birth certificates are not mandatory for people who are born outside Canada

if she has any education certificate where her DOB mention then it is valid or make an affidavit of no record found .

It's worth asking at the municipal office (in the area where your mum was born) if her birth was registered. If it was, getting a birth certificate would not be that hard.

Good luck.
