Hello Seniors,

What is an immigration clearance?

My files says:

Overall status: Suspended - Clearances/IMM

1) Criminality clearance: Passed (However, expired)

2) Security clearance: Passed

3) Immigration clearance:

What does includes in an immigration clearance?

I thought this is done at the start of the application in Sydney, before Criminality and Security checks are initiated. Isn't it's purpose to ascertain that if one is PR or not?

Can you please elaborate on this branch of clearance? @dpenabill

Thank you.

GCMS clearance check is done every time any action is taken on an application. So yes, it is done in Sydney. Once or twice. Done again before or attendant scheduling the test/interview event. And unless a Decision is made immediately, it will done again later attendant the Citizenship Officer's review and decision. And, depending on when the oath is scheduled, it might be done again just before the Oath.

At the least.

But from what you are reporting "suspended" is what jumps out and demands attention.

Suspended application processing can be about any requirement for citizenship but usually, it appears, is about pending proceedings, or at least a pending investigation, into the applicant's admissibility, ranging from investigation into potential past misrepresentation to possible PR Residency Obligation compliance, or for example, for a refugee-PR, an inquiry into whether cessation proceedings should be brought.

But I do not read these ATIP reports much. They seem to have defaults and verbiage which can be misleading or easily misunderstood. I don't really know what this means in your case.

A custom ATIP request might reveal more. A lawyer should illuminate things some.

If you aware of any reason why you might face investigation about your PR status or admissibility, such as pending criminal charges, a recent PoE issue, that could be a problem. But I am not sure this means processing your application is actually suspended or not. That said, if for example a Help Centre telephone agent confirms processing is suspended, yeah that tends to something significant if not outright serious.
