Hello everyone,
Im going to apply my citizenship application. I had criminal charge in 2015 which resulted in stay of proceedings in 2016. Now my question is, will this charge effect or delay my application. Please reply if anyone had same situation or know anything about this.
Thanks

On their website it says this might prevent you from obtaining citizenship. I’d advise to speak to a lawyer. Because a stay of proceedings is not a withdrawal of the charge. It’s still on your record
  • you’re charged with, on trial for, or involved in an appeal for an offence
    • under the Citizenship Act, or an indictable offence in Canada
    • committed outside Canada that’s equivalent to an indictable offence in Canada

Thanks for your reply…are Pr and citizenship applications different in case of background check? Because I applied my Pr in 2021 and nothing delayed my application.
